asked & answered

Q: Is merino wool itchy and prickly?

A: No way!  Merino sheep produce the finest, softest, and most adaptable wool anywhere in the world.  There’s no prickle or itch to merino wool.  It’s just really super soft.

Q: WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT ZQ MERINO and the responsible wool standard (RWS)?

A: Our merino wool is traceable back to a select group of ranches in New Zealand and Australia that meet strict animal welfare and responsible ranching standards certified by ZQ Merino and RWS.

The sheep are treated with the care and respect deserved by such magnificent animals. Superior animal husbandry and superior ranching techniques produce the finest, softest merino wool you’ll find anywhere. To read up on one of our favorite merino ranchers, click here!

Q: WHERE ARE YOU Located?

A: Beautiful Denver, Colorado, just an hour from the majestic Rocky Mountains — the perfect place to explore, dream, and discover!

Q: CAN I TALK TO A REAL PERSON ABOUT YOUR MERINO WOOL CHILDREN’S WEAR?

A: Yes, of course!  We would love to hear from you!  The best way to reach us is by email.  If you'd like to chat by phone, include your phone number in the email, and we'll get back to you, usually on the same day (but definitely within 24 hours).

Chances are, you’ll talk to JP or Sarah, a husband-wife team that co-founded Chasing Windmills and loves all things merino. Yup, you go straight to the top! We are a small company dedicated to sharing the natural goodness of merino wool. Can’t wait to talk to you!

Q: WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT CHASING WINDMILLS HAS DIRECT-TO-CONSUMER PRICING?

A: It means that you can wrap your little one with really super soft merino wool without making such a dent in the piggy bank. We know merino wool is more expensive than, say, cotton or synthetic fabrics, but merino wool is a truly unique natural fiber fabric --- super soft, temperature-regulating, quick-drying, all-season, natural and even biodegrable. By selling directly to you, we've stripped away the full retail markups that drive up costs.

Even though we offer direct pricing, we do partner with several brick-and-mortar and online boutiques that share our vision for sustainable merino wool children's wear. In this way we can build relationships with shop owners who help us reach mamas and papas who appreciate beautiful simplicity and the wonders that Mother Nature provides. If you are a shop owner interested in carrying Chasing Windmills, we'd love to chat!

Q: What’s your return policy?

A: We want you to love our merino wool apparel. If you don’t love it, then we’ll take care of you. Check out our Return/Exchange Policy.

Q: How do I wash and dry my merino wool?

A: We get it. You’re busy loving and caring for your little one. Rest assured, caring for your merino wool is easy. Just machine wash cold with a mild detergent and either tumble-dry low or air dry. Easy enough!

However, be sure to avoid “bio” detergents and stain removers containing enzymes such as protease, as this can cause irreversible damage to natural protein fibers like wool. These enzymes break down proteins like stains, but unfortunately also break down protein fibers leading to loss in fabric strength. Do not use bleach and do not soak merino wool.

Q: WHERE DO YOU SHIP?

A: Anywhere in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and a few countries in Europe too!

For our friends in Europe and throughout the world, we have partnered with several boutiques that ship throughout the European Union, the U.K., and elsewhere. For a complete list of those options, check out our stockist page!

We also remind you that, for orders outside the U.S., your local government may charge additional taxes, customs duties, and other fees on your order. Our shipping charges do not account for those additional fees, so you will be responsible for sorting out payment with your local government and paying any additional fees. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with your country's import duties and other charges before placing your order. Due to the higher costs of shipping internationally, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges on international orders. Refusing to pay duties on a Chasing Windmills package will not return the package to us, and no refund will be issued.

All prices listed are $USD.
