There are those formative moments in your life journey that you want to hold onto. This was one of them for me - a few nights and a couple of days spent at Tops’l Farm in Maine at their Cozy Creative Petite Pause Retreat.
In this 10th year of running Chasing Windmills, it was a rare opportunity to spend uninterrupted days finding joy in the process of creation, reflecting in the peace of Maine’s beauty, and nourishing my spirit with good company and the yummiest food. I got to spend the experience with my sister (we had never done a trip just the two of us before!), and it was a true gift to be able to soak in a pause from our to-do’s together.
Unlike typical retreats, this “Petite Pause” was just that - a pause from our everyday where I was spoiled with wholesome & nourishing food, the quite of the Maine woods, and cozy accommodations to sit by the fire, read, and get lost in your own thoughts. There was a guided crafting activity that you could choose to participate (and of course I participated fully in every minute!), but there was plenty of room to do as you wish and take the space you needed.
It gave me the space to realize how grateful I am for this small business journey. In the day-to-day of order fulfillment and emails, it is easy to some times lose sight of what we are chasing here. When society tells us that we need constant growth, or the next trend, or the next big milestone, I was reminded to appreciate the present - that what we’ve built already matters, exactly as it is. Our real success comes in the joy of creating something meaningful, slow and steady, and with intention.
If you’ve ever wished to press pause - to slow down, to see the many gifts in your days, to revisit who you are, to find the life within you - I encourage you to invest in a gift of nature, nourishment, and space. The space to hear your own thoughts again, to reconnect with what matters, and to then come home to yourself again.
